About ConcePTION
ConcePTION is a project funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative, a private public partnership. The project was launched in April 2019.
We believe that we have an important societal obligation to radically and rapidly reduce uncertainty about the effects of medication used during pregnancy and breastfeeding to benefit women in making informed decisions about medications used before, during and after pregnancy.

Ten principles for stakeholder engagement in the ConcePTION project
The ConcePTION project is building much-needed knowledge for women and health care professionals. To achieve our goal of building an ecosystem for medicine safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding, we need to engage with women, their partners, their doctors, pharmacists, midwives and nurses, the companies that develop medicines and the authorities that approve them and decide what becomes available to patients. Our goal is to work in an open and inclusive way, with the spirit of mutual respect and trust. Here is how we engage with stakeholders in an ethical way.

The IMI ConcePTION project has created a data pipeline for pharmacoepidemiology studies based on real-world data sources. The pipeline can be used to study the use and safety of medicines in pregnancy and lactation, but it is also applicable to a vast range of research questions. The pipeline represents the pathway of data transformations from original data to the figures and tables displaying the results of a study as a sequence of five steps.
A description of the ConcePTION data pipeline is available on a GitHub wiki, along with our Common Data Model documentation; catalogue of data sources; tools to support, extract, transform and load data sources to the ConcePTION Common Data Model; the INSIGHT real world data quality checks; the ConcePTION Pregnancy Algorithm; open-source functions to build and document study scripts; repositories of studies using the ConcePTION pipeline, and published studies based on the ConcePTION pipeline.

About the MUMS knowledge bank
MUMS (Mothers Using Medicines Safely) has been designed to bridge the information gap in pregnancy and breastfeeding. It’s a free-to-use, publicly accessible pan-European bank of reliable information about the safety of medicines during pregnancy. The content is developed and agreed upon by experts in medicines in pregnancy and breastfeeding across Europe, promoting consistency and removing ambiguity. It is targeted primarily at pregnant women in countries and languages that do not already have a trusted national online resource for this information. The information about the use of medicines in pregnancy is compiled from Teratology Information Services and other trusted sources, based on published scientific literature. The sources are independent of industry, to ensure there is no conflict of interest. Want to know more? Visit the MUMS knowledge bank.
About the e-learning for health care professionals
The e-learning package was developed by European Teratology experts and is intended for health care professionals. It is a comprehensive educational curriculum of 11 chapters, and designed as an online interactive self-study course. There was an extensive pilot phase, during which feedback was collected to improve the course. The eLearning package is now fully drafted and is undergoing accreditation assessment by a European Accreditation Body. The package is currently hosted on the eLearning platform of an Irish University, where a pilot assessment of the eLearning Package with undergraduate pharmacy students is underway. Future sharing after accreditation and optimisation will ensure broad availability to health professionals at all stages of their career. ENTIS hope to support the eLearning package into the future to ensure that the content remains current and to respond to future issues. Read more about the e-learning.
